Web conferencing: not only for virtual offices
For more than two years now, I am working fulltime in a virtual office. I love this set-up more than going to a real office and work there from 8AM – 5PM. My colleagues are based in the country’s capital while I am the lone employee in our department here in the city. There are other employees but they are working for other department in the company.
While others hold their meetings in our office in the city, I and my colleagues in the department usually hold our a meetings through Web conferencing. If the meeting involves just the three of us in the department, we do our Web conference late in the afternoon or early in the evening. But if it involves our COO and other employees based in other countries, we conduct Web conference in the later in the evening.
So far web conferencing is effective in our department. And it is not only for virtual office. Most companies with offices located in different areas also benefit from it. Instead of convening to one place, they save time, effort and money in travelling to the place where they are supposed to hold a meeting. It helps in the company’s effort to cut cost in operational expenses.
Almost lunch
It’s almost lunch and the gang just came home from the market. They were sent there by an aunt to buy something for lunch. We will be having grilled fish and eggplant later! Teheee! Wanna help them grill the fish but have to finish reading about SSDI that it seemed hard to understand now because everybody are laving a lazy day while I work my ass out. Oh life of an online worker! It doesn’t help too that the net connection here is too slow. Thanks for the free use of computer and internet, anyway!
What matters most
Unemployment rate has gone up. Oh well, when did the number went down? Though many have gone out of the country to work, and many have been hired, there are still thousands or hundreds of thousands seeking employment. It’s so easy to land in any tech jobs because it’s one of the in demand job orders lately…that if one has enough knowledge and experience but if one has is not skillful enough, then I suggest you better undergo skills training to be competitive. Educational background is not the main passport to land a job now. It’s the skills and competencies that matters, especially for jobs that require certain skill levels.
