Thinking out of the box: Resetting the router

If there’s one thing that I learned in life – that is thinking out of the box. We cannot just rely on others to fix something or address all our concerns. IMO, it’s always best to find the solution yourself before escalating the concern to other people. And if there’s one thing that I loathe, that’s answering unimportant concerns with solutions waving under a person’s nose. I tend to be independent and seeks solutions to my concerns alone. Thus I learned technical things by asking google, through trial and error, and if all else fail, thinking out of the box. How could you learn to do something if you won’t try? How could you find answers to your queries if you won’t seek?

For the nth time, thinking out of the box saved me from a terrible headache. There was a problem with our base station’s ISP that prevented me from opening most of my blogs (including this one) unless I open it through a proxy site. Then I asked Ace to reset the router because it might help resolve the problem. He then changed the settings of the router that we ended up unable to connect to the wireless router. In short, we’re wired! It wouldn’t be a big hassle for me but I don’t know why I wanted to connect to the internet through the wifi. Since Ace gave up on trying to fix the router, I tried my luck. Pulled out the SmartBro adapter from my laptop and connected it to the desktop. Asked Mr. Google how to reset the router and found the solution in no time. To reset the router, using push pins I pushed the reset button about 10 seconds, pulled the power cord from the router, pushed the reset button once again and plugged the power cord. Plugged the SmartBro adapter to the router and viola! The router is working once again!

Sometimes we just perceive things to be impossible to fix and we need people with technical know-how to solve the problem. If we’re just used to find solutions on our own, and courageous enough to try things that we don’t normally do, we can actually work on our own to solve the problem. Everything could be learned, if we’re just willing. And it’s the sweetest if you learn on your own – nothing can beat that! Oh well, that’s how I am. That’s how I was trained. That’s my personal choice. There’s nothing wrong about asking questions. But I tend to learn something by myself and explore possible solutions before asking questions that will solve the problem.

Don’t let it rain today please

It’s quite gloomy weekend! The sky is overcast and the morning breeze is cool. Oh how I love it! This kind of weather makes me want to snuggle under the sheets. I just hope it won’t rain later today because we’ll be going out. Hey, this is one of the two days of the week that I get to see the outside world so please spare us the rain. Let it rain late in the evening instead. But please give us just moderate rain because last night’s super heavy and long downpour scared me to death. I am thankful for the rain though because I won’t be watering my plants for a day or two.

Height does not matter

With my height of 4 feet 11 inches I obviously lack growth hormone or what they call hgh (human growth hormone). My pituitary gland must have stopped producing growth hormones after my early teens because it was the time when my growth became stagnant until all my other friends became taller than me! Though being small has its advantages, it has also a lot of disadvantages. Gladly, I didn’t consider being petite as a disadvantage. I’ve no insecurities with my height and I don’t really mind if I am petite while my sisters and friends are taller than me.

Confidence is not really based on a person’s height though for some it does matter. But since I am focused on other things while I was growing up, I didn’t mind at all being smaller than others.
